GOALS
The intention of the Skywheel Project is many-fold. Perhaps at its foundation is the desire to reclaim the sacred mystery of the night sky as a place that fills us with wonder, awe, and possibility; to transform our feelings about space from a place to be conquered, a commodity and a battleground, back to the heavens, the home of the gods, our gateway to a glimpse of the vast, sublime universe unfolding around us. It is an attempt to reclaim not only the physical space of the heavens, but also to restore all that it alludes to: a longer-term vision, a deeper sense of our own place in the universe, and a sense of the preciousness and fragility of our own planet, and with that a commitment to its stewardship.
This will be a new star. Filled with sacred text representing blessings from every spiritual tradition on the planet, it will serve as a beacon of light, a navigational aid for the heart of humanity. As the Skywheel satellite orbits our home for the next millennia, it will serve both as a symbol for, and a confirmation of that which is greater than us. It will create a focus for our simplest, our most profound, and our most ancient dream: of creating a better world for ourselves, for those we hold in our hearts and in our prayers, and for our planet as a whole; a world that resides in peace, harmony, and mutual celebration of its beautiful, unparalleled diversity.
