ABOUT PRAYER WHEELS

The Skywheel Satellite is inspired by the Tibetan Buddhist Prayer Wheel, a meditational tool used to focus intentions of compassion and healing for all sentient beings. Prayer wheels are cylinders that contain thousands of copies of one or more prayers, and are adorned with auspicious symbols and text.

Prayer wheels are used to aid in meditation, to help maintain focus, accumulate wisdom, and purify negative thoughts. They are also used for healing. When a prayer wheel is spun, it is believed that the prayers inside radiate outward with every revolution, bestowing blessings on all beings in the path of the wheel.

The Skywheel will contain prayers and spiritual wisdom from all the world’s spiritual traditions, and will pass regularly over every place on Earth, radiating blessings to the universe above and to our world below.
